Poker news

People will generally agree that poker – in its current form – truly burst onto the scene in around 2003-2004. That was when Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer have forever changed the public’s view of large-scale high-stakes live poker events. That was the time when the WPT began bringing high stakes tournament action into the home of the everyday man, and that was when the first high stakes televised cash-games started drawing audience.

Since then, the poker industry has evolved, diversified and grown. The live professional scene is richer than ever before, and more and more people are interested in the going-ons and smaller personal dramas behind the scenes. That’s right, live professional poker has been transformed into an ongoing soap-opera, with superstars, celebrities and one-hit wonders, complete with the drama of everyday life, taken to an entirely different level though by the huge amounts of money involved in its every aspect.

As the live poker industry was slowly transformed into this pimped-up reality show, a new market was created: that of the poker news. People become hungry to learn novelties about their favorite stars, and since there’s so much going on in live poker all the time, a shortage of news has never really been a factor.

Online poker has blossomed too, and as online poker tournaments get ever more generous prize-pool wise, public interest is growing about them too. Poker professional, Tony G was one of the few people who recognized the existence and the potential of this new poker-market, and began to capitalize on it by creating a poker news site. Nowadays, every true poker-maniac reads these news, after all, no poker player can ever be a complete one without being thoroughly informed about everything concerning the industry. On top of that, there’s an added bonus in each of the news delivered: you never know when you come across a small poker lesson in any of them. Information is power, and nowadays, it is certainly power in the poker-world too.
