The PQR Poker Jargons All Should Know

In the past, various poker terms, words, and phrases have been discussed in order to help the newbie player familiarize himself with these various unknown terms which are commonly used in a poker game. Here are some more of these poker jargons to read about. We shall begin from P all the way to R.

Paint: The term "paint" would refer to face cards such as the Kings and Queens, and the Jacks in a deck of cards.

Passive: Of course, this is the exact opposite of aggressive playing by a player. So basically, this style of playing poker deals more with checking and then calling.

Pat: This jargon refers to a hand that is already considered to be complete. For instance, in Draw poker, a flush may arrive amongst the first five cards that have been dealt to a player. The hand is then said to be a pat hand.

Pay off: Is the act of a poker player calling a bet when he is more than likely, drawing dead due to pot odds justifying the call.

Penny Ante: Refers to very low, frivolous stakes or stakes that are made just for fun.

Post dead: This is an act of posting a wager that is equivalent to the minimum and maximum combined big blind.

Probe bet: This would mean a bet or wager after a flop done by a player who has not taken the lead in wagering prior to the flop.

Quads: This would refer to the type of hand played in a poker game which is also known as "four of a kind". An example would this would be four aces and one seven in a poker hand.

Quarter: This is the act of a player winning a quarter of the pot.

Rabbit hunt: A rabbit hunt, usually refers to the means by which a player reveals his last card which could have come out in a community card game that has a fixed amount of cards.

Rack: This may pertain to either of two things. First, it could mean the collection of a hundred chips with the same amount or denomination which is oftentimes arranged in stacks of five in one plastic tray. Secondly, it could mean the plastic tray that is used for storing the rack of chips for a poker game.

Rakeback: Often refers to the repayment of a certain portion or amount of the rake back to a player which was paid by that particular player.

Redraw: This is the act of making one hand and having a draw occur for a better hand. It can also mean draws made later on in a draw game that has multiple draws.

River rat: Refers to a player who has a hand that is dominated from the very beginning, however, he later on gets to improve his hand in order to win the pot.
